"Unlike many other people in the industry, I found myself studying Hotel Management by chance. The industry at the time was booming in Cyprus and I thought that it would be a good field in which to start my career. This proved to be a very wise decision as I soon discovered the hidden passion within me for the hospitality industry.Graduated 1993
During my studies at HIM I discovered the big ‛secret’ in this industry; people! Whether these people are your guests or team members, managing and interacting with both is crucial for success.
My career has taken me through many different roles starting as a trainee and working my way into senior management. Since 2009 I am the Director of Human Capital and Development for the Amathus Hotels Division, which is a really exciting role. Constantly moving between three hotels, facing different challenges, interacting with different people is for me both challenging and inspiring.
My advice for students is that nothing comes for free! Hard work combined with discipline and passion for hospitality are the key elements to guarantee your success in the field. The moment you decide to be in this industry, you choose a lifestyle, not a profession."
