HIM was founded in 1985 as a private hotel management school and registered with the Department of Public Instruction in the Canton of Vaud. 

Number of Students:  800 per year from over 60 different countries.

Swiss Quality:  Member of ASEH since 1992
In 1992 the Swiss Hotel School Association (ASEH) recognized the quality of the programs offered at HIM and granted full accreditation.

NEASC Accreditation: 1996
Since 1996 NEASC has recognized HIM’s Swiss Higher Diploma Program, proof of HIM’s drive for quality.

American Management Expertise: 2002, partnership with Northwood University
In 2002, HIM partnered with Northwood University, Midland, Michigan to offer a top-up semester (3+1) for HIM students to earn an American degree. Now, aspiring HIM students can earn an accredited (NCA) BBA degree in Hotel, Restaurant and Resort Management in Switzerland.

MBA:  2007
In 2007, Northwood University began to deliver their accredited MBA Program in HIM.  The DeVos Graduate School of Hotel Management is an important part of the program at HIM.

AH&LA Certification:
In recognition of the increasing global demand for fine Swiss hospitality education and to ensure the global relevance of the curriculum, HIM has a special license with the American Hotel and Lodging Association (AH&LA) to deliver its diploma.

Industry placements:
An important element of the HIM program, students are required to complete two internships of a minimum of four months each in order to advance to the higher diploma and bachelor level.
